Mosquitoes in Houston are not an occasional nuisance — they are a season. From roughly April through November, standing water from a single heavy rain turns into swarms, and a backyard you cannot sit in becomes a house with the windows shut. Mosquito treatment is the fastest visible difference you will see from any pest service we offer.
What mosquito control actually does
Adulticide is only half of it. We treat the adult population with a targeted application to resting zones — shaded vegetation, fence lines, under decks, and the underside of foliage where Aedes mosquitoes rest by day — and we treat the larval source with a mosquito Dunk or BTI tablet in every container we can find that holds water. Breaking the breeding cycle is what stops the problem returning in three weeks.
The standing water on most Houston properties
The most common breeding sites we find are not the dramatic ones. They are the low spots in a fence line holding rainwater, a clogged gutter, an overturned plant pot, a birdbath that was never changed, a tarp over a boat or trailer, a kiddie pool left out, and the saucer under a patio table. One neglected saucer can produce hundreds of mosquitoes a week.
Yard treatments vs whole-property barrier sprays
A yard treatment treats the treated area for about three weeks of residual protection. A whole-property barrier spray treats the entire perimeter — fences, vegetation, eaves and entry points — which is what we recommend for properties backing up to greenbelt, bayou, or standing water, where mosquitoes migrate in from outside your control.
Mosquito Control — common questions
Every 2-3 weeks through the Houston mosquito season, which runs roughly April to November. Each treatment knocks down the adult population and kills off the next generation coming from the larvae.
We apply in the evening and tell you the re-entry time — typically a few hours. If you are planning a party or an outdoor event, call two days ahead and we will time the treatment to clear before your guests arrive.
No. Mosquito treatments need a dry window to adhere properly. If rain is forecast, we reschedule at no charge rather than wasting your treatment on a wash-off.
Yes, once the drying window has passed. We use products labelled for residential yards and advise you to keep pets off treated areas until dry, which is normally a couple of hours.
